Getting the Most From Your Efforts

"People don't plan to fail, they fail to plan."

Every successful business person knows this quote to be true! Every unsuccessful business person also knows it to be true. Below you will find some basic "Keys to Success." You may already know these principles, but please take the time to see how you can use our CD regardless of the size of your budget or how limited your time.

Keys to Consider:

  • Planning- What are your goals and objectives? What budget are you working with?
  • Preparation- You've decided what type of event is right for you. Now what?
  • Participation- The day of the event has arrived. Now make the most of it!

Planning

Goals and Objectives-

Determining your objectives will help you to establish a solid event strategy. Once you've determined an objective that works within your budget, then you can factor in other key considerations.

An objective to provide one CD to every student at your local elementary school would require a larger budget than to have the objective simply be to establish relationships with both fire departments and teachers by providing enough discs to use within the school's computer lab.

Does your goal exceed your budget?
Providing enough CDs for the computer lab alone, has the benefit of making solid relationships with those Affinity groups and keeping your costs low. Providing one CD to every student increases your cost factor, but greatly increases your exposure in the homes of the families of those students.

If you're wanting the benifits of a larger goal, but your budget is limited, consider the following:

  • Work with several agents to reduce your cost by sharing the expense.

  • Find other organizations to share the expense (PTAs, Rotary Clubs, Lyons, etc).

  • Provide enough for the school's computer lab now, with the intent of providing one for every student during October Fire Safety Month later this year, giving you time to set aside the funds needed, and to plan more effectively for the larger event rally.

"IT'S NOT AS IMPORTANT WHAT YOU DECIDE TO DO, BUT RATHER THAT YOU DECIDE TO DO SOMETHING!"

Remember, schools are just one avenue to use our CD. You can read about more ways to use our disc by going to either our "Marketing Strategies" or "Creative Concepts" pages.

"What other marketing tool has the ability to easily connect you with Affinity groups, link potential clients to your contact information, build lasting community relations and provide valuable life-saving education to children and their parents?"

Participation

Prior to the event, during the event and afterwards, it's important that you participate in the process. From coordinating with the fire department and school, to being at the rally (taking pictures and/or video), to follow up calls thanking the fire department for allowing you to help and calls to the school thanking them and asking when you can drop some pictures of the event off to them.

Please remember, we're here to help. If you have questions at any time while preparing for an event, please call (530) 432-5508 or email us at info@firefacts.org.
